FG, I can see that these are air actuated, and the brackets for the air cylinders somehow attach to the back side of the tips, but I am not clear how the exhaust hoses attach with these in place. Do you need to leave a gap of about 2 inches between the hose and the transom? How much room do you need? I have Lightning headers on my boat, and I am wondering if I would have enough clearance with them.

Thanks!

These go thru the transom and there would be a short jumper exhaust hose to the header hope that helps

Thanks - yeah, I kind of figured that out. It looks like the round "hose clamp" looking bracket attaches to the part of the tip that extends through the transom in the engine compartment, and that there is a tube that the rod that operated the flapper for the exhaust cutouts rides in, right? And then the exhaust hose slides over the inside of the tips and butts up against the bracket, right? What I am trying to figure out is how far the tips extend inside the transom. Due to the length of the collectors on the Lightnings, I have a limited amount of room for the exhaust hose. I am interested in these if I can figure out if they will fit. What state are you located in?

Did you ever have them installed on a boat? If so, how much did they knock down the noise level?

located in Florida, they were on a 38 Topgun with blown 540 Chief's and you could tell a difference in the sound level but no hard data as in decibels changes
