Just over 100 freshwater hours on them

Rattlesnake Jake 03-02-2013 07:45 AM

Not trying to start a riot, but I think the price is on the high side. Example, I have 2 HP500s and if I spent 17,500 on each one Pretty sure they would have way more HP than the 525s.
Good luck with the sale..

Audiofn 03-02-2013 08:13 AM

Totally different animal. There are not 525SC's they are 525EFI's.

agreed totally different .aluminum heads= fresh water cooled crank trigger ignition ect way diff

thirdchildhood 03-02-2013 08:50 AM

How would a HP500 be superior to a HP525 EFI? The 525 has about 40 more HP, closed cooling, distributorless ignition, improved intake and throttle body, etc. The price isn't out of line and it sounds like the seller might be "motivated".

If you're refering to my post I didn't say the HP 500 was superior. Read it again.
Sorry if you were mislead.

Also, I'll agree with audiofn, but I never brought up a 525sc. I was refering to the 525s listed for sale.

Yeah, I mis-read it! Price still doesn't seem too far out of line. Bet you could get them for $15,000 each.

Anyway you slice it they're sweet engines.

delsol 03-22-2013 07:00 PM

Rattle Jake. I reread your post and still not sure what your point is ....

Are you saying by investing 17,500 into each of your carbed hp 500 engines you would have a better package than what is for sale? I hope so --- but you are not comparing apples to apples at that point, because for that you could build 700 efi's

In the same way that you cannot compare 525 efi engines to your older less advanced. hp 500's -- nothing against 500's just not comparable

delsol 03-22-2013 07:02 PM

Btw these 525's that are for sale were driven by a little old lady to church the odd Sunday
No really I think a little old lady ran harder than the captain of the boat these were in!

There I have what?? the fact that you are saying the cost of your motors plus 17,500 ea--- Or are you saying that your motors are worthless?

Don't be so hard on yourself....

open87 03-23-2013 06:00 AM

In the market to buy 1 preferably with no exhaust , bell housing as I run a transmission and SM dry exhaust also don't need the Latham unit

just be aware that the 525 exhaust is diff .it has its own bolt pattern .header styles can be re drilled but aluminum manifolds can not
