Mine have saved my ass a few times with the sand and weeds. Well worth installing one.

Yes there is a difference and sometimes the fine sand sea strainers cannot flow enough water for the engine in high demand. That is why most people use them for the blower setups as it is more crucial for cleaner water in the intercooler.
