Default Super Shorty Drive, Bolts to TRS Gimbel

Selling my Super Shorty with Speedmaster Style Lower. 19 spline propshaft LH rotation 1.33:1 Ratio, refreshed in 1997 filled with synthetic gear lube stored in my basement and never used since refresh. I had hopes of building a 20-24 FT blower boat over the years but now come to the fact that it just won't happen. So if you have a smaller single engine TRS boat and need a short lower unit this is for you!! Comes with standard transmission input shaft, and a short input shaft if needed for crash box install. I ran this on my 20 FT Checkmate with a crash box, then it was a spare for my 25 FT checkmate with a transmission. Pictures will be posted soon. Asking $6,500 or best offer. Can be reached by text at 231-313-2511, or by private message

Is it an SSM 2 lower? Or something one off?

I don't think it is a one off , but I believe the upper came out of Merc engineering and maybe a few where made. The upper is the shortened piece. once the pics get posted you may be able to decipher. It is 20 inches from input shaft to propshaft C/L

Wow, that thing is neat looking. You definitely have something rare. I'm just guessing here but it looks like a standard SSM II lower with what abones said was a Merc shortened upper. Here is a picture of my old SSM II's for reference. Look at the height of the lower bellhousing mounting stud compared to the trim pin.

Bingo! I was waiting to see if anyone would know the history on this drive, there were 5 of these made, I ended up with two of them, sold one with my 25FT checkmate to a friend and he still has the boat. they were used it the KT class racing and gave the advantage to the one boat that had them running speeds of 180 MPH, By the way it is actually 5 inches shorter then the stock upper.

So if there is someone out there that would like to wake up their existing TRS based boat, especially a 20-25 FT Cat this will do the trick! I've been holding on to it because I really wanted to use it one day, and equally because of how rare it is. But let's fine a new home for it on a hull that will benefit from it..

SlowRyd here on OSO did an AMAZING job converting his TRS and Mating it with the bravo lower!! I believe the hydrodynamics of this lower unit will be a huge advantage at speeds in excess of 80 MPH.

Anyway that is the story as I know it, I know someone will give it a good home!
