detail info here.... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/a...ement.php?f=51 |
Well its slowing down again, that didn't last long:Whatever: OSO
|
Better today, but they've only brought it back to where it was post-changeover.
It's amazing that IB, with their vast technical resources can't make a server run as well as some boting hobbyists did- and with less traffic to boot. It's a good thing they have a new, high-powered, Ivy-league CTO at the helm. Makes you wonder how bad the one they just ditched was... Internet Brands Names Joseph Rosenblum CTO LOS ANGELES, May 06, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Internet Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ:INET), a leading Internet media company that operates community and e-commerce websites, today announced it has appointed Joseph Rosenblum as Chief Technology Officer, reporting to CEO Bob Brisco, effective immediately. Rosenblum has overseen all areas of technology development for Internet Brands since 2006, when he joined the company as Vice President of Technology Development. Prior to joining Internet Brands, Rosenblum served in a variety of management and engineering roles at EarthLink, Inc., including engineering manager and senior software engineer. From 2000 to 2002, Rosenblum served as a software engineer and technical lead at Epinions.com, Inc. Rosenblum has both a B.A. and a master's degree from Stanford University. "We're confident that Joe will help unlock the potential within our rapidly growing portfolio of high-quality vertical websites," said Bob Brisco, CEO of Internet Brands. "During his two years with us, Joe has already helped us expand our tech team, focus its efforts, and drive important growth initiatives." Rosenblum succeeds CTO Debra Domeyer, who joined Internet Brands in 1999 as Chief Information Officer and was appointed to her current role in 2000. Domeyer will remain with Internet Brands for a transition period. "All of us at Internet Brands would like to thank Debra for eight years of outstanding service," Brisco said. "Debra's leadership was important in establishing us as a successful company and setting us up for future growth." |
Here's something interesting from the IB website- in their PR section
In the first half of 2008, the Company completed 21 website-related acquisitions for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $49.2 million. The financial impact of these acquisitions is included in the Company's 2008 business outlook. |
I wonder, based on the obvious and rapid loss of traffic on this site, exactly how much equity they will lose by first half of 2009 due to a total collapse of PR in the face of incredible technical problems.
Many, if not all businesses that get greedy with growth can't sustain that growth and screw the pooch. In five years, IB will be talked about in business schools like the tech boom of the 90s. Something that happened once because nobody (except the people who sold) realized what was happening in the industry and where the true bubble was. I will tell you one thing.... Steve is a frigging genius. This forum HAD to be in the upper half of the forums acquired in terms of traffic, membership and advertiser revenue. Heck.... if the dude didn't sign a non-compete he should spend 10 grand on the equipment necessary to kick their butt with a new forum. Perhaps OOSO. (Off Off shore Only.) Or ROSO. (Real OSO) Or maybe "Steve's fast boat world." Or maybe Chris Sunkinland. I have my credit card ready. Bobthebuilderworld? Offshoredrillinland? Bouyhunter.org? |
I cannot tell you how sick to death of this crap I am. It is down to a crawl again, I will see how long it takes to load this took forever to get to this point. I am so not reupping in Jan 09. Dun Dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
|
I hit the IB corporate site earlier. It's no speed demon either.
|
All the above complaints are part of the reasons did not re-up. I am really tired of the slowness and all the damned stat machines being used on this site. Every notice at the bottom of your browser how much chit is being run accross the net. I look at it this way, if I pay I don't want them tracking me, giving me ad after ad and a damned slowazzed bunch of servers to boot.
|
I think that this will be the members of OSO aproaching IB soon.
