Mozilla Firefox Browser

I have been one of the complainers about this site being so slow.Yesterday on OSO someone suggested that I try using Mozilla Firefox. I figured it was worth a shot. I put it on here this morning and wow what a difference. The pages load much faster. Not just here but every aspect of surfing the internet. So i do apologize for some of my trash talking about this site and IB. It seems that at least some of the problem has to do with internet explorer.

I switched also it is very fast.

Been using Firefox for several years...it's much better than IE by far...It's easier to manage plug-ins and passwords and was the first with the tabbed browsing...

When Kim Komando recommends something you know it's a good one... http://www.komando.com/

And after fully setting up your adblocker, you'll never surf with anything else again! ;)

glassdave 09-14-2008 10:05 AM

I thought I'd give it a try- no luck. Didn't work wel at all. At first ti did load the pages aster, but then it stopped opening a home page and wouldn't let me access bookmarks. I dumped it and reinstalled- same thing. Worked OK then conked. Back to IE.

Here's the thing- the site used to work just fine.

internet explorer is microsloth, bill Gates is the anti-christ...nuff said.

If Firefox won't work on your computer, you have a problem with the puter NOT OSO. Nobody else has a problem with Firefox so that should alert you to other issues.

bouyhunter 09-14-2008 11:08 AM

CigDaze mentioned Firefox on the board over a year ago, so I tried it.
Glad I did.
It's been working great for me.
I was using Netscape previously.
Much happier with Firefox.

TSPM 09-14-2008 12:24 PM

Is anyone running the latest version of FF? It seems slower than the previous 2 versions.

pkspx 09-14-2008 02:24 PM

Rocky Dell 09-16-2008 12:49 PM

This should be added as an announcement.

FF 3.0 is the best damn browser out there.

ditto, easy to use, less vulnerable against security threats compared to IE. Most my clients are running Firefox. I setup Gellner's machine with Fire Fox, he couldn't be happier with it since the switch from IE.

Perlmudder 09-16-2008 03:39 PM

ive been using it for a couple years now. once you learn the keyboard short cuts and get a couple of the good add ons its tits. anybody use safari not on a mac? i've heard good and bad things about it.

jmeng 09-16-2008 03:56 PM

Installed it a couple of days ago and its great. Didn't bother to watch the tutorial. Does it do anything really cool that I should take the time to set up?

nope

FF3 is a great chunk of code- Im still having a bit of trouble with it on a few sites though- its very slick and polished.

However if you want fast (and I know you do) the new Google Chrome browser is the fastest yet- is beta so its not yet complete but it RIPS!

They took the startup page quicklaunch screens from Opera (which is another browser worth looking at.

I'm not a huge fan of Firefox, but I do have it because of the considerable speeds it's capable of with certain sites. I'll stick this since it may help members with the ridiculously slow speeds the site has been posting lately.

Bingo. Maybe I'll change over, but it's still like having to buy a new car because one stretch of the road is too rough.

US1 Fountain 09-17-2008 06:26 PM

Just tried it myself because of this posting. It does work a little faster with OSO for the most part. Sometimes it still hangs in space. I don't see any change in other sites, or of anything measurable. My Norton Password manager doesn't work with F/F, and I have lots of P/W's. The F/F password manager won't work for my Hotmail or banking sites.
It's new to me, so going to give it some more time to research the P/W issues.

Sydwayz 09-18-2008 08:51 AM

Firefox has a plug-in that allows you to view certain sites in an Internet Explorer tab. It also can be programmed to "remember" to open those sites in IE.

It works well.

baja bailey 09-21-2008 05:34 PM

I have been using Firefox for about a year, been working great so far..

Do you know were to get this plug-in? I use firefox 99% of the time, but one site I use has to be run through IE, and it would be a nice feature to have.
