MODS: Editing posts?

Mods

Can we not edit our own posts anymore?

sorry for posting in the general:coolcowboy:

There are new time limits for thread starters a posts.

Makes people think before they post, because after a while you dont get to take back what you said, in total or otherwise.

Who came up with that idea?? Punish the whole because of the acts of a few? Thats a Ridiculous idea IMO.

Who is going to police me in the real world if I say something in a run on sentence or with bad grammar FTW!

What if create a post asking a question? Then i get my answer and want to delete my post after "time expires"?

In order to get around the "think before you post" idea. You could just keep creating "Registered" usernames and posting from behind several proxies. Now this would/does create a problem for the community and the mods...just sayin'

Sorry for the rant...:bsflag:

There is no edit button or thread tools on posts that are deemed "old". I can edit this thread but not ones that are say over a week old?

RG, go back to one of your posts thats older and check it out for yourself:kiss:

No problem. I rant too.

The time isnt instant. You have tons of time to spellcheck and add periods.

SpeedGirl 03-09-2011 03:09 PM

You have 72 hours to change/edit your threads/posts.

A bit annoying especially in the swap section.

Uncle Dave 03-09-2011 05:17 PM

Locked down threads after 72 hours is good and bad.

It certainly stops people from "switching allegiances" after a party is found guilty of a crime in a court.

There have been a rash of "post conviction" stance changes about certain people in the last few months and locking down old posts keeps people honest about who they back up publicly and what they say about others.

Lots of guys got a lot of crap about their positions from long standing members able to gang up on them because they might have held an view unpopular with the popular people.

Same popular crew gets to go back and rewrite history after the fact when in fact they should be eating crow.

A few of the outstanding gentlemen here cop to it, move on - and others start rewriting history- hence a change in policy.

I have noticed some posts can also mysteriously change without an edit flag showing up as well - Hmmmmm

Goggle never forgets and now OSO doesn't either. Say what you have to say but it will become part of the record. No more covering up those drunken rants about your wifes boobs.

If a part in the Swap Section is sold, just hit report to Mod or contact one of the mods via PM and we will close the thread....
