3 hotels in Hermitage 6 miles from Blackjack
3 or 4 more in Madison/Rivergate 5.5 miles from Blackjack

less than 10 minute drive to each, minimal in the grand scheme of things and could cater to travellers coming from north and south side of lake. I40 & I65 options for out of towners.

so we should have 2 fun runs like chattanooga.. then we can do it at both Marina's....:lolhit:

Steve Zuckerman 06-07-2011 03:51 PM

 I think both Marinas are fine, as are the restaurants and bars. The practical problem with Anchor High is the lack of "transient" boat parking for a large event like this. Maybe some arrangements for some extra parking can be made with them in advance?
That being said, BJC did a very nice job for us LY.
We'll be there regardless of where it's run from.

The real problem is the VFW being to far from anything but Hendersonville or maybe Rivergate.

One would thank that last year when people drove further to go to downtown than they would have to go to the VFW that it would be obvious as to what they were indicating but I guess it is not so obvious to some.

Anchor High will be fine. I know the owners of the marina and the restaurant very well and will get involved if you like. Surely, Mitch will let us tie up boats in those slips near the gas dock and all around the restaurant. I'll call Tim tomorrow to coordinate.

Now as for the party at the VFW.

BuddyLuV 06-08-2011 12:07 PM

last I heard was no overnite boat parking at AH..so I am working on some boat parking at BJC to make it easy...

That's what it's all about right there Steve. I know I'm an outsider/wakeboarder/guy that films the run, but the run will still be the run no matter what and it will be a great time. This event does good for the VFW and helps Vets out. That's why its in Hendersonville and that's why the after party/dinner is at the VFW, which makes sense to me. I think the Hyatt hotel is chosen because Mrs. Baldwin works for the hotel group and obtained the discounted block of rooms for MCPA. Both Black Jack and Anchor High are pretty legit, but I do agree the parking issue needs to be addressed at Anchor High - Surely something will be resolved there.

Buddy hit the nail on the head with the communication comment. The club needs to meet more and discuss the run, see who has the connections and get members more involved well before the run each year. Hats off to Ralph for getting this stuff together, because it wouldn't get done until 2 weeks before the run otherwise. I'm trying to rally flight solutions pilot Kevin McCutcheon to provide a few hours of helicopter footage for the run, hopefully that comes thru for us. Later guys.

Brandon,
Thanks to you and Ralph for taking this on.
