possibly moving to nashville

Just got word that my wife could be getting a promotion that would take us to Nashville. just curious as to the boating community there. How long is the typical season, types of boats, which lakes to use? Just looking for general info on the area, we would be moving from Vegas.

Nashville's economy is on a strong rebound. We have 2 lakes (old Hickory and Percy Preist), and a river (Cumberland) in the immediate vicinity. There are 10 more lakes within a 2 hour or less drive. IE, plenty of great lakes and rivers.
We boat from March through October. Sometimes earlier and later. Boat types are everything from performance offshore, bass boats, ski boats, cruisers, houseboats, pontoons, jet skis, even a few blow boaters. We have an annual poker run on Old Hickory, if you are into that, like a lot of us on OSO are.
We have some good marinas with restaurant bars, and plenty of public launch ramps.
I think it's a great area for boating, and living.
Regards,
Steve

thanks for the reply , we are used to havasu and mead here was a bit worried leaving my "boating support system" lol. We should find out within the next two weeks if this is gonna happen, If it goes through we would most likely be in the area by mid august. What lake tends to have a more party atmosphere like havasu?

Both lakes have good party coves and areas. They don't call us Nashvegas for nothing. However, if you are looking for Havasu type partying, you may be somewhat dissapointed.

That's the gospel for sure!

Nashville is cool and the boating community is very strong. Most of the boats are pontoons, ski boats and bow riders etc.. There are a few of us go fast guys around and one thing about Nashville is everybody's stuff is FAST! Be careful about pulling up next to a fairly docile looking Nordic or Fountain as they will dust it off and say bye!

Hey boaters love boaters ya know and you will always be welcome!
