GPS Coordinates for ICW at Galveston Channel

Does anyone have the coordinates for the entrance to the ICW along the Galveston Channel. I want to get them loaded into my GPS before Fun Run next week.

BY U BOY 07-16-2007 11:13 AM

Your GPS should already have them in there. You should have a find option and the ICW should be marked.

SANLEONKID 07-16-2007 02:34 PM

its a Garmin handheld and not a chart driven one.......

If you hit the ferry crossing the ship channel, you've gone too far. If you hit a barge in the ICW, then you're there!

Also, when running the ICW east, you come off a plane and make a right just after the tall radio tower about a mile from the ship channel on the south side of the ICW to get to party location.

Thanks..... I did find on a land map. Did not know it was so close to the entrance off Galveston Bay.

Just look for the tall antenna mast and turn there, not very far in from the entrance to the ditch. You can follow us. Don't try to cut across the east bay, go down the ship channel. When you see the ferry crossing turn left and follow the channel markers into the ICW.

Gerrit,

I see you've already changed your logo by your name! I heard you were getting a 42 Beak. Is it here yet? Can't wait to see it. Just how much did you win at the PR (just kidding). The 42 Beak is a great boat. Takes rough and smooth water very well.

Thanks for the offer to folow you in.... I used to fish out in East Bay... waaay to many shallow areas and they change all the time. I hope I can keep up with y'all. Any idea how many will be going on Saturday?

I don't know how much yet. Will find out Saturday. Maybe pay for a tank of gas? The new boat will be here Thursday, I hope.It has a small problem with 1 cylinder that Shogren is taking care of. It will probably go over to CLPBS to check out before I run it. Can I Park it next to yours? Did you get it resolved with Merc?

Won't be a problem with that Scarab keeping up. Sounds like quite a few boats are going. We usually have a pretty good turnout. I hope the weather holds out, it has not been very good on weekends lately. Call me Saturday early and I will let you know if I am going by my boat or in my buddy's.

THLWL 07-17-2007 03:08 PM

Gerrit - Read the post I just started that states Official Reply from Mercury Racing in the General Forum section.

Sanleonkid - The run will start in Clear lake and run to the north side of Red Fish Island to the ship channel. They will then run the ship channel to where the ICW crosses it. They will then run the ICW for about a mile east to party. If you stay in the ship channel and ICW, the water will be plenty deep.

I got your cell. We plan on putting in at Endeavor about 9am or so Sat morn and heading out for a quick checkout run and fillup before heading over to the Turtle Club.

I hope the weather cooperates or it will be another wet run like the Stars and Stripes. The local weather clowns are calling for a 50% chance of rain for Saturady. I guess I will
just go out and by some helmets:evilb:

Frank, Keith (SuperBoat--Once Bitten) has a paintball mask with him and uses that if it rains. I might have to get one. Seems like it rains on all of the runs lately.

GCAT911 07-18-2007 01:17 PM

Because its been such a wet summer I was thinking somthing like a deep see divers helmet :drink::eek:

THLWL 07-18-2007 01:52 PM

At Lowe's or Home Depot, you can get a clear face shield with frame. The frame fits over your head and has screw type adjustment. Very inexpensive and available. Keeps the sting out!

GCAT911 07-18-2007 07:34 PM

Yea, But Does It Look Cool

I got the clear face shield and it works, but the paintball mask definetly looks cooler.

Anyone ever use Maptech?? You can find any GPS coordinates in either format - I've used it to load all the turns from the San Jacinto where I live to Lake Charles. Get in the boat - load the route - turn on the autopilot!! Too bad it can't turn away from debris or barges....

I posed a link that didn't work so well - just try some local names then select the nautical maps and off you go!

Tommy - Need that windshield??

That's what everyone in the neighborhood said - And TicFaw wins ..... it would be cool as hell I think. Too bad Clear Lake isn't long enough to do it on....

It would be very cool but
1.. the lake is not long enough
2.. No way to control the boat traffic

I think it would e better if it were on the sanjack.

No $hit - but the same problem there as well. The BYUBOYZ is having their Winter Nat's this weekend up at Banana Bend. Supposed to be a bunch of them out and some out of town hot rods showing up to do a little side by side testing....
Hope the weather holds out ....

FYI - the official - unofficial - this aint no race just testin - date is Saturday. Hate to see you bust a$$ to get out there Sunday and only a few are left. They are staying at Banana Bend overnight - so I'm sure there will be some stragglers sticking around.

Ever try feeding that Lab twice a day?? Or does he just like the taste of wiring in the morn?
