I dont think we were in real trouble untill we ran out of food and were forced to eat jello shots for survival.

Actually, I've gotten what i wanted to know. It takes about 3-4 hours, it is doable, and from the sound of it, the trip is worth it.

Time to start with more serious planning
But wait you didnt ask us how long it takes to get back to houston from laberge,, lol now thats a storyyy.

Would really like to make this run one day. Last summer we ran from Lake Charles to the Orange Boat Club. Nice ride but a little on the boring side running in the ditch. Is it pretty much the same all the way to Clearlake?

I'm not sure that anywhere between Clear Lake and Lake Charles would be considered scenic. This trip would be more about experience and going somewhere by boat that would normally go by truck.

For those that have done it, are there places along the ditch that you could sneak out and run offshore if conditions were good?

If past experience holds true, coming back in truck is always slower and takes longer so I would assume the same by boat Worst part would be getting back and still having to load on trailer and then drive home versus pulling up in driveway and stumbling in to crash on the couch.

We were hitting 90+ mph for miles when we had the 13 hour trip. Might be why we blew so many engines. Pretty cool to go that fast on water like glass.

I think Louie popped more than that on that trip.

I agree. Wasn't knocking the trip at all. I'm all about seeing new water. Tried to plan a Baton Rouge Boat Club trip from Lake Charles to Clearlake this year but couldn't drum up much interest. Maybe sometime down the road.
