What Class Hitch??
What class hitch comes stock on a 2001 2500 Suburban?
How much weight can it tow? What does the "Tow/Hual" Button on the column shifter do? THANKS!! |
Re: What Class Hitch??
I am pretty sure it comes with a Class-III hitch.
7500 lbs Weight Carrying 12000 lbs Weight Distributing The Tow/Haul button does NOT lock out Overdrive, instead, it extends the rev-limiter in all your gears to get more RPMs/powerband when upshifting, and getting the load moving from a stop, and tries to keep the tranny from switching gears a lot when ascending/decending hills i.e. highway travel. |
Re: What Class Hitch??
What is the difference between "weight carrying" and "weight distributing"?

Weight Carrying is what you are used to seeing and using. Simple drawbar, simple ball, simple coupler, with the rear of the tow vehicle carrying all the weight.
Weight Distributing uses bars to distribute the load across the entire frame of the tow vehicle, eliminating a lot of bounce and the feeling your front wheels are lifting, making a much more stable tow. Do not confuse this with Anti-Sway bars. Anti-Sway Bars are NOT compatible with boat trailer that have surge brakes. WD hitches are when set up properly.
