2005 Titan 4x4 - great truck for hauling!

I bought a 2005 Titan LE about 4 months ago to pull my 36' Coyote (early Sonic) on a 2001 aluminum tri-axle Continental trailer with brakes. The boat and trailer wiegh 11,940 with about 1/4 tanks. The Titan was ordered fully with a big tow package including transmission temp gage. We made our first road trip 4th of July weekend from New Orleans to Derstin. The truck did great.

Interesting thing to know. On cruise control, at 60 mph/1800 rpm, the truck/transmission does all the work. For example, when you come up on a hill, the truck downshifts from about 1800 rpm to 2600 rpm. After about 10 seconds or so of puling the hill, the transmission "slides" into some other gear: the rpms will drop slowly from 2600 to about 2000 and pull the hill, the transmission doesn't heat up. What's interesting is if you try to duplicate the same situation without using cruise control, the transmission never slides into that lower gear, you stay at 2600 RPM's and the transmission will start to heat up. Not sure how the transmission nd cruise control are working together to accomplish that but, as hard as I tried, my foot can't duplicate it.

Any way, if your looking for a classy truck to use during the day for business (Commercial real estate for me), that can haul a load, this is it. I know, diesels work better, a 250 or dually is what I needed, but this one works great.

Just my 2 cents on trucks.

i hope you don't tow a lot, you ever have a accident with an overloaded truck (you are) and your insurance won't cover it.... your almost 3k overweight... be careful.

also keep your eyes on the brake rotors, a know problem with that Nissan prone to warp-age really bad.....
