POR-15 paint - anyone try it on a trailer??

Anyone try it? My trailer is aluminum but axles are obviously steel and the salt water is rusting the paint off. Am told can just brush off the chips and paint axles without lots of sanding a prep. I got a starter kit last nite and will try on small area, looking for long term results.
Hope can use on springs too, they're the worst

I know a guy that uses it to restore old cars ...swears by it.. just brush off the loose stuff and brush it on .....
