Keep blowing lt front trailer tires
I have a 5200 lb boat on a trailer with 14 in wheels. Tires are rated for 1850 a piece. I keep blowing the lt front tire only after about a 200 mile trip. The tire is super hot when I pull over after it blows. I have tried all different brand of tires and the trailer is a 2000 model. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I would check the axle alignment, I bet it dragging it sideways and creating mega heat. I assume tire pressure and those type things are right.

Re: Keep blowing lt front trailer tires
How is it wearing? Do you have a bent spindle? Torsion axles or leaf spring suspension? Brakes on this axle? Wheel bent? (Have them put it on a balancer.) Does the wheel itself have a leak where air is escaping? Is the tire bottoming out on the fender/frame/something else? What is your tongue weight? (Too much tongue weight will do this; it needs to be between 10-15% of your total towed load.) Does your trailer sit level when hitched to your truck? (If not, you need to get a raised hitch drawbar.) Is the tire being cut, coming apart, breaking a belt, or blowing the tread off? What is the total weight of the entire trailer, boat, fuel, tools, coolers, etc? (Go to area dump/recycling center/truck stop; drop trailer tongue jack on scale to get entire trailer weighed. Then, hitch trailer to truck, and only place trailer axles on scale, subtract to get your tongue weight.) What is the rated weight of the trailer and the axles?

Re: Keep blowing lt front trailer tires
I measured it and it is showing the front axle to be back on the RIGHT side 1/8th of an inch. I talked to a man that builds trailers today and he said that that small of a difference will not make the tires get that hot. I was thinking about going to a 15 inch tire, but I am not sure that will help. What is the best measurment to take? I measures from the axles back to the end of the trailer. Thanks alot for the replys
