I hate the sound at startup on my 2003 8.1L Avalanche. It also eats a quart of oil every 2K miles. All normal according to GM :mad:

my 8.1 does that as well.. its "normal" from what i was told..

I also use a crap load of oil... like a quart and a half in 2500 miles.. again "normal" I have a 02 2500HD

02 2500 w/8.1l 1 to 2 quarts every 4000 miles, sounds like a sewin machine. trans acts up every once in a while you come to a stop fast start to take off and it goes no where then feels like you pulled it in gear snaps your neck. 92.000miles :rolleyes:

I preface this with the fact that I am a loyal GM fan, but as far as I am concerned the duramax and the 7.3 pstrokes are the only motors too have for towing. Got rid of my 2500HD with a 6.0 when the warranty was up, glad I did with the gas prices going up. No regrets with the change.
