So I ordered 5000 lb torsion axles from my trailer manufacturer. Taking it apart I found a front mount broke

Back on the ground and tested. Smoother and quieter than the squeeky , creeky leaf springs. These also came with 12" discs as opposed to the 10" I replaced ,so it stops better too :D

So far it seems to be well worth the expense

Excellent work and pics MP. I can't believe you did all that work with the boat on the trailer. When I replaced my axles and brakes; (on my 26' Sonic trailer) I had the boat blocked at a marina. My trailer shifted in the driveway, and fell off the jackstands. It scared the crap out of me. I would recommend removing the boat next time.

Re: Torsion conversion

I would have rather had the boat off but I really didn't have a place to dump the boat for a couple of days. I started this project Tuesday and finished Friday. My driveway where I did it is flat and level and they were 6000 lb (each)jack stands. I will admit it would have been easier with the boat off. If I was still using the facility I used last year I would have left it the water for a couple of days but they are closed :(

Good job.
Is the trailer under sized with the history of all the broken parts? Seems like there has to be reason for that.

That would be my first guess too. Boat is 5788 dry +130 gallons of gas and other assorted chit. Trailer VIN tag has net carrying capacity of 8200 , GVW 9095. Don't think it was overloaded but nearing the limit. That combined with the fact it's 12 years old could have taken it's toll on the suspension. Up till now it's been fine.
