2000 - 2003 Diesel Excursions...

7.3L or 6.0L
4x4
Loaded options

I am looking into something described as above with 45-80K miles on it. What starts going wrong in and after these timeframes/mileages and what should I look out for, other than the 2003s that have the first editioon 6.0L?

We have a friend that is looking to possibly sell his. It's a 2000, XLT, 7.3 diesel, 4x4, dark blue, dual air, loaded with 100K miles. Never had any issues with the truck. Let me know if you want to talk to him.

How about as much back seat room as an excursion with the benefits of a truck ...2004 ,every option , 31k miles .

ABA, thanks. I am real estate shopping before purchasing a truck, and while I like yours, I just don't want to drop more than $28K or so on a used diesel one day. I like a nice truck as much as the nice guy, but just don't use it enough to warrant a big ticket truck. I'll be down next weekend.

Sydwayz: The 2003 6.0's are legendary for having a lot of issues. Ford brought these out too early. Do a search.

The 7.3 is a trustworthy engine- just noisy.

Replacing the Av? or adding to?

Thanks Wannabe. I was actually with Boot/Joe when he grenaded a black 2003 6.0L Ex. I would replace the Avalanche someday when I get some more things in line. I really, really like my Avalanche, but have my heart set on a black vehicle with black wheels/chrome lip (LOVE that look) someday.

o, by the way the early 2000's do not use a mecanical diode in the e4od auto. that's a good thing.

don't buy one that has used a chip....and buy one with low miles and has never had the trans fluid changed...

05 dually with 6.0 has over 30k miles without a minutes trouble and will roast the tires or a Honda at will . 06 King Ranch F350 with 6.0 has 1700 miles with no trouble except I should've got a bigger lift ..

That is the look, that is what I have and it works, just stay with GM. They make black vehicles :D
