You would think so. I upgraded (or so I thought) from a 98' Ford F150 which I have NEVER had a problem with. It's just a pain to tow the boat from Miami to the Keys when I need to because I hate to put that much strain on my every day vehicle.

I would hate to get into something that is going to be problematic and honestly I can tear apart a chevy 350 or ford 351 (up to the heads) :D but don't know crap about diesels...

A buddy had a 03 6.0 PSD and Ford bought it back because it was in the shop too often. He ended up with a new 05. Good Luck.

I know three people with the 03's. They all like them for the most part. One had idle issues. They ALL got the injector upgrade I think it was?

Get used to leaving your truck in the dealer for a long time. They will not order parts before the truck is there, they do not stock much of anything so your typical down time with the truck is about 7 days. I found a garage that is near my shop and the guy runs a round the clock shift for truck repairs. What is the oil leak? If it is front or rear main seal just get used to it they all leak..... Not bad but they do all leak.

PS the dealer for 7 days is typical no matter what manufacturer you own, they all seem to be that way.

Make them take it back and go with the 04. Got an 02 7.3 and an 04 6.0, not a single problem with either diesel.... dammed air filters for the 6.0 are rediculously priced!!!!

you need to come to the midwest then, trucks around here get fixed pretty quick... i have had fords, gmc's and chevy's all go in the shop for various warranty stuff and never have had to leave it over night even... i had an issue with the rear wheel steering on my denali that i thought would take a couple of days (talk about rare parts), the parts ended up being UPS'd same day and i was back on the road by 6 pm...

Your lucky then. If I needed a valve cap it would take them for ever around hear. My new guy is much cheaper, does better work and does it much faster then the dealer. He did a oil pan for me and only reason that it took 4 days was so that the sealer could dry for 48 hours. :D

Not sure. They haven't told me where the leak is coming from. They did tell me that the truck probably shut off due to low oil pressure. According to them if it's down a couple of quarts of oil they shut off. Don't tell me that they all leak man.. I have concrete pavers on my driveway and that would really suck...
