Usually it isn't until it's too late that people come to understand what can happen while towing. I found out the hard way- someone came across the median towards me on the interstate while I was towing my Cig 38 with an F-450. Even though I was under my towing capacity, there was no way I could recover from a quick lane change to avoid the car. As a result, the seesawing back and forth across 3 lanes with a truck and trailer taking turns at going up on 2 wheels ended up with several barrell rolls down an embankment.

I bought the Freightliner used for under $20K and put another $10K in it making it ready to go- tool boxes, new flat bed, re-do the interior- everything. It tugs a full-cabin Apache 41 around like it's not even there. I also have the handiest giant pickup truck in town now. I use it way more for other nonsense than pulling the boat.

Weight it.
Then, back up a couple feet, drop the tongue jack, disconnect the truck completely from the trailer, and pull the truck off the scale.
Weigh it.
Subtract the difference.

Splitting hairs here fellas.... Tongue weight is aprrox. 10% of total... Good rule of thumb. :drink:
