Re: 2004 Ford F250 PSD Or 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD

No comparison in this post, just an experience. I borrowed a friend's F-350 PSD dually to pull my 30 Powerquest on a triple axle trailer. I am guessing about 11K loaded. Anyway, it pulled it like a dream. I have a little experience with the 7.3 and this 6.0 motor pulled much stronger and got better mileage to boot. The only change I would make is getting 4 wheel drive. The dually had a little wheel spin on the ramp.

I agree with Chris S. His post applies to the farmer's I have observed. I believe there is a higher number using Ford's than other manufacturers. And believe me, the farmers will work a truck!

2% will be Dodge

There are alot of reasions why- quality, serviceability, parts availability, factory support and others. I have no product bias- in fact, for years I bought GM's on my brother-in-law's employee-purchase plan before they ruined it.

Drive through Texas or something and look at all the work trucks. 60% will be ISB cummins powered Rams, 30% will be Ferds and the rest GMC or others.

Yah, that's where i drove to get my Dodge Cummins and that's all we saw on the roads were old dodge diesels.

It seems as soon as we hit 90K on it, things started going wrong, little things like the power mirrors acting up, power window motors, etc. Now it's using antifreeze and there isn't a puddle under it so it doesn't look good. Just my .02 on Ford vs. Dodge.

Come on, apples to apples here. How can you compare the duty cycle for a durango with a towing rig?

In late 2004 GM Diesels started outselling Dodge Diesel trucks thus putting them very solid in the number two spot. This trend has continued through 2005. I would say with the R&D that GM is putting behind the Duramax/ Allison package this will be the case for quite some time.

I'm not calling a fellow Arkansan a liar, but I couldnt find those numbers on SEMA, JDpower or MSNautos... could you linky me to them for my own knowledge?

I'd think that more people buy duramaxes because they have to replace them every other year, but hey... I was at the local Mastercraft dealership looking for some new bindings and they have 2 cummins and 2 duramaxes and are happy with all four. They use the Cummins for long hauling and the duramaxes for driving short distances. Both the duramaxes have power pup downloaders and banks intake and exhaust.

In austin, for work or working trucks (3/4 ton +) there are a chitload more fords, than chevy, then dodge. I see em everyday.

for 1/2 tons, i see a chitload of chevys and dodges, more so than ford.

These numbers are published by industry publications that I have access to due to my profession. They are broke down by each category and engine classification.

Please don't get me wrong. I think they are all great trucks. I truly hope all of the big three continue to grow and profit with great success. My living is greatly appreciated by their success....regardless of brand.

I get all three in my shop right off the showroom floor everyday of the week. I consider it a privilege to work on any of them.
