GM 2006 Camper Mirrors

3 Attachment(s)
I ordered these mirrors from GM with nothing more than a sketch in the owners manual to go by.

They are electric with turn signals and heaters, manual fold and manual extend.

Waited 4 weeks for them, but am pleased with the looks and view.

Dealer price $360 ea but I can tell you where to get them for $160.00 each if anyone is interested.

Wobble,
Nice looking truck. Which grill did you use? Is it metal or plastic?
Thanks,
Dan

it is a metal overlay type grill. It looks ok at 15'. However I am looking for a genuine Denali type grill.

I also received the replacement door handles from gm today, crome handles with factory white painted surround. My 4-year old knocked the tailgate one off the tailgate while I was fitting it and chipped it, oh well  with some touchup paint it will pass the 15' test also.

Wish I had known they were coming, I wouldn't have had to take the front door panels off twice.

Spill the beans Wobble. I have been looking at the Schefenackers http://www.ttt-mirror.com/ but have not found anyone willing to discount them very much. I would be interested to see how the GM mirrors compare, please post your source.

Thanx

Re: GM 2006 Camper Mirrors

OK i give :D

This web site has every gm part number in the search box, but you can only lok up parts there up to 2004 I think. I found the part numbers for the mirrors on www.rv.net in the tow vehicle section

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

Mirror 15812279 $159.76
Mirror 15812280 $159.76

Just type these part numbers into the search box. You won't find them cheaper anywhere else.

This site has the handles in six colors and many other OEM accesories http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/accessoriesjsp/home.jsp

Again, get the part number then go to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ and type it in. Don't know why but they are much cheaper. A GM buddy told me that the bodyshop couldn't get them any cheaper

Escalade handle kit set of 5, 17801143 White with chrome handles except tailgate which is all white $ 204.76

The mirrors will fit 2000 on up depending on whether you have power mirrors I beleive. They are the best I have used on any HD truck, ford dodge or gm. I am very pleased with the size and looks. They took about 30 minutes a side to install.

The handles took about 20 for the taligate, 15 for each rear door and 20 for each front door.

When removing the rear door panel watch out for a screw on the bottom front edge that must be removed. Here are some instructions that work for the front doors http://www.powervisionmirrors.com/manuals/6105tk.pdf

I did not have to make any pin changes on the wiring. Not sure about 2000 - 2005 trucks.

True John, but if you bought the Ford you would still just have a Ford :D Besides, picking the pieces is what makes it your truck.

The new Duramax with six speed Allison is the Shizzle :drink:

In manual mode you can select your passing gear, let the boost build and it's instant acceleration  No waiting for the tranny to decide which gear you need.

BTW the Camper mirror shown on http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/accessoriesjsp/home.jsp is not the same thing, that is the manual mirror and is plain ugly IMO

I hear you...I did the chrome escalade handles on my 2004 red crew.....I went with the denali (all white) handles on my 2005 crew.. I am sitting in the service dept right now waiting on my truck....water pump went out at 7K miles??? Right after I bought the 2005...they announced the new 6 speed and LBZ.....I can tell you I liked the LB7 motor alot better than the lly. I have the edge w/attitude 4 inch exhaust, AFE Progard cold air, fingerstick, EGR blockoff, and It still does not run as good as my 2004 with the same stuff.....the 05 surgers alot and runs hotter EGT's.....about 150 to 200 degress on the pyro. I just about have that worked out though. I like the mirrors....when I get through pouting about spending money on crap that shoud have came on it, I will probably get the mirrors. :D

Wobble, this is good timing for this thread as I was just thinking about installing the new mirrors yesterday.

I have an 05 identical to yours with the power camper extend. Any issues with my conversion? What did you convert from?

Thanks, Wally.

Hi Wally,

Go to www.RV.net and search the tow vehicle section for gm camper style mirrors. From what I gather there, there are no issues converting the 05 electic mirrors to the new style.

John,

What was the build date of your LLY? They completely revamped the LLY starting with June 05 build date. As far as I can tell it is the same as the LBZ just different programming.

Does your airfilter have a sock on it? I read somewhere that a hopped up duramax will suck grit right thru a kn type filter at high boost and sandblast the turbo blades.

Mark, I have an AFE stage 2 intake and filter....AFE is the only one that filters down to oem levels. DO NOT put a K&N or Mac on a duramax if you plan on keeping it. I dont know what my build date is...I will have to check. If you want any diesel go fast stuff, I am a distributor for MBRP, Edge...etc...and I will give you the buddy hook up. I have already busted the allison with 6K miles on it.....5th gear is toast.....it did not like the edge and predator stacked!! Ran like a raped ape until 5th gave up though!! :D :D

Re: GM 2006 Camper Mirrors

Mark, I just checked my build date....03/05. I have a brand new predator programmer in the box for the LLY duramax 04.5 to 05 for $275.00 if you know anybody that wants one. The pred is a great programmer with real time data acquisition....just don't stack it with the juice if you have a stock tranny!

Wobble,

I finally got by a dealer today and got the keys for a truck with these mirrors so I could sit in it and see what the rear vision was like. These will definately do the trick.

Did your truck already have heated mirrors from the factory? I am curious what the amp draw would be because I will have to retrofit for heat on my rig.

I had heated mirrors, my guess would be that draw is low for the mirrors only. Chances are that the wiring is there already.
