Dodge problems

1 Attachment(s)
I have a '01 1500 Ram automatic that has had a shifting problem for at least a year now and has been back to the dealer too many times.

Intermittently it has problems shifting from first to second gear. Sometimes it won't do it for an entire trip and other times it does it a lot. So far the trans has been rebuilt, the kick down has been adjusted (whatever that is?) throttle position sensor has been replaced,. has had all ecm updates installed and they tell me it has been programmed to go into gear harder. I finally talked to the service manager and now he wants to have it in one more time before I put a bullet in the tranny and start over fresh.

I like my truck, I could use a bigger one but I'm trying to save for a bigger boat but I can not keep dealing with this issue :hothead:

Any one have any recommendations besides sell the truck. Thanks,

Rob

Re: Dodge problems

I have a 99 2500 auto Cummins that did the same thing. It was the speed sensor on the tailshaft (drivers side). It is real easy to replace and only costs about $30 at the dealer.

You can also go to http://www.turbodieselregister.com and do a search.

Good luck.

Thanks, I drop the truck off Sunday night for service. I called the service writer and she noted that possibility on my ticket. Hopefully that is it. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed.
