2005 Ford 5.4L Accessories

Trying to help a friend get some better fuel economy and horsepower out of his '05 F-150 5.4L. I told him to get a nice intake and exhaust set up, but there are just so many places out there with different products. What are some good INEXPENSIVE places to get these products? Thanks.

That's not gonna be something he wants to hear :drink: . I'm pretty sure Ford changed some stuff around in the motor around '04 didn't they? Doesn't it have like 3 valves per cylinder now? My grandfather has an '04 with the 5.4L and he averages 13MPG and he added custom exhaust. However, he's got quite the leadfoot so that doesn't help either.

Yup, they are also more H.P. too,,, ain't much gonna help a 5.4 in the G.M. department,, my uncle is the parts dept. manager at a Ford / Subaru dealer and I constantly beyotch about the G.M. I was hoping for around 18, If I drive carfeful, accelerate slow, I can squeeze 16-17 out of it,, but gotta drive it like granny..

He's doing a lot of highway driving, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm sure it'll get some better mileage once it's broken in a little.

A friend of mine installed Borla exhaust on his 05 f150 5.4l and he is also claiming 17-18 mpg, I drive a 06 f150 5.4l about 110 miles a day, mostly highway & I get 15-16. Pulling around 9500 pounds I get 9-10mpg....I also have a lead foot. Using e85 fuel you will get about 20% less. But it is only a $1.70 a gallon which is a wash at current prices.

How do you like your LT? We just aquired Lincoln & Mercury a couple of months ago. We just got our 1st LT in and it looks great! 2008 for the LT is going to see a major redesign on the interior, which will be specific to the LT. Alittle more bling.

Dealer cost on the Borla for a 5.4l f150 was $585.00 plus shipping, does not include install.
