Ditto on the EGR. One of mine did it too.

If they are pulling the heads expect to see the cab in the air because the pull it to pull the heads in most cases.

Mine did what you are describing and they replaced those two items. It has run fine every since.

they replaced heads, turbo, and several updated items no problem, they said this is very common, had no idea how many problems ford is having with the 6.0, no wonder they are changing motors

Are people who leave these 6.0's stock as Ford intended having problems?

The 2003 6.0's are well know for being bad. I am more interested in the 2005 and 2006 versions. It is difficult to decide which manufacturer builds the best package. If you believe what you can find on the internet the duramax has overheating problems, the 6.0 powerstroke is a complete pile and the Dodge truck falls apart around the engine. This available for the small entry fee of $45,000. Makes it tough to decide.

I must say that ford has stood behind their warranty on all of the problems so far.
