1. Check the fuse

2. Go to all the Ford schools and buy the body diag computer for this vehicle.

3. Have Ford fix it under warranty.

Of all of them, #2 is probably not the best. Plus, if you dck with it and toast something expensive, you'll have to talk your way out of it with the Ford warranty rep.

Fuses were fine and it worked the day before perfectly. With the rain here over the weekend, I went through a HUGE puddle right brfore I tried to use it and I think something shorted out....

Dealer said the motor that engages my front differential was in pieces? He was holding part of it in his hand.... Is this right? I find it hard to believe this motor is located in a spot where it can be broken? WTF?

(insert Sean H/TSG joke here  )

On mine I've had a bad ground cause all sorts of electrical problems, dash lights, climate control, radio failures and also Excursions had a torque converter recall (did this one causing tranny problems). My Ranger 04 had the same problem with 4wheel drive not engaging. I'll look for the invoice to see what they fixed under warrenty....

Mine was the motor that engages the front differential when the switch is turned to 4WD. A rock must have kicked up and rattled around ABOVE the skid plate and hit the diff. motor. The motor was in pieces. Just a freak thing. Took them 4 hours to figure out had happened. No warranty  They also did 3 or 4 recalls....

I'll look it up when at the office sure it covered 04 and 05 6.0 PSD's though the letter came around last Aug/Sept. time frame.

Pleeeze...a rock???....must be some other cause....how about this....your hammered and drove in reverse over something like stick or metal sign and it came from behind up above the skid plate blasting the motor....it is quite evident your not the worlds best driver under these conditions

Freak occurance or not; I wonder if the dealer submitted a warranty claim with Ford without telling you to get a double bill.
