Would like to hear what effect this has on your highway mileage after you run it for awhile.

I never drive the truck far enough without the boat to figure a highway mileage. I did tow Monsoon (12K lbs on the trailer) from VA to Chicago and back last weekend, which included the MD/PA mountains. I got 9.6 mpg hand calculated for the majority of the trip; flat or mountain. |
Re: Holy crap; that's some power!!!
I got 8-9 mpg towing in the gas Dodge. Hand calculated.
I would think diesel towing in the lo-mid teens mpg. |

Re: Holy crap; that's some power!!!
2002 7.3L PSD, Auto tranny, 4X4, crew cab with 305 tires with the 60hp TowSafe mode on a Superchip and 4/5" MBRP exhaust.
Towing 6000lbs (24 Outlaw and trailer) at 75mph with the air on, all gear, 15 cases of beer and 5 people = 11.8 mpg. No towing and in town driving = 14.8 mpg Set the PCM back to the factory setting and mpg actually went down in the above boat towing scenario... Zack |

yup...trans is the first thing i would beef up. you dont want to toast a tran$ running big diesel power, heavy truck, heavy boat, and heavy foot. |
