Bunks or Rollers for Trailer?
I did some searching on this forum and didn't see a thread on this topic...and I'll admit I don't know much about trailers.
Anyway, I'm debating getting a boat (27-31ft) that I would need to trailer. I've seen advertisement for trailers with two prices, one with bunks, on with rollers. The trailers with rollers are more expensive. What is the advantage to going with rollers? Easier to load/unload the boat? Which type supports the hull better over time? Thanks. Chuck |
Re: Bunks or Rollers for Trailer?
Bunks are the only way to go. They distribute the weight of the boat over a larger area and don't distort the bottom like rollers have the tendency to do, not to mention, have you ever seen the boat sitting in the middle of the launch ramp, nowhere near the water??? Probably on a roller trailer and the strap either let go or the guy with the boat unhooked it early. You couldn't give me a roller trailer. Thanks, but no thanks. Just my $.02 though. :D

Bunks and bow support. Rollers put a lot of pressure on a small area.

Rollers are for Run-abouts.....actually they aren't even any good for those either.
