Trailer brake controller

OK so I have had my controller in my truck for about 4 years and it works fine with my race car trailer which only has 1 electric drum brake axle.

Problem is that with my new boat trailer which is electric over hydraulic disk brakes, it seems the controller is providing to much brake. To the point of locking up the tires sometimes. I have the controller all the way down to as low as it will go.

Questions

-Could my controller not be compatible with more than 1 brake axle?
-Is a different controller needed for electric over hydraulic brakes?
-If I need to get a different controller what is a good one to get? I have mine mounted in my Super Duty in the hole under the 4X4 switch and would like to keep it there. About 1.5 inches by 4 inch hole.

Re: Trailer brake controller

What is the brand of the controller.....it needs a synchronizing adjusted....for the weight difference. That should be the other button on the controller

Electric over hydraulic is the way to go

Re: Trailer brake controller

I think that the trailer may be wired wrong. Haven't taken anything apart yet but will on Saturday. According to the BRAKERITE web site the actuator should have a + - and a wire to the brake controle wire on the truck. I think they have it messed up somehow.

Not all brake contollers work on electric over hydralic brakes. I bet you need a compatible controller.

Re: Trailer brake controller

Get an inertia brake controller. It adjusts according to how hard you push on the brake pedal. "Odessy" is what I use.
