the black cloud of expensive smoke has appeared!!!
Ran out to get some stuff for lunch and had no power peddle to the floor, power slowly comes back after a pretty large cloud of black smoke appears out the back, looks pretty expensive, injector maybe, hoping that dealer despite asking them forgot to change fuel filter's, air cleaner was done by me last week........ 6.0 PSD Excursion....

Re: the black cloud of expensive smoke has appeared!!!
Good chance it's just a stuck EGR. No guarantees but it's a common problem with the 6.0. Exact thing happened to me

I'm convinced Ford hired Satan to design more than just the air filter for the 6.0 PSD. :evilb:

Re: the black cloud of expensive smoke has appeared!!!
My EGR plug fell off a long time ago. If I knew where it was I may reattach it, but the funny thing is that it runs a lot better.

Re: the black cloud of expensive smoke has appeared!!!
Ford has a new ECM flash for the 6.0 for cold condition stumbling & low power. It basically disables the EGR until the engine warms up. You may want to get a reflash.

Here's what an EGR looks like after 11,000 miles.
I don't know if I'm particularly keen on recirculating my exhaust gases. |

Funny- they never seem to stick in the closed position.

Thinking this might be what is preventing people from liking the 6.0PSD |

Re: the black cloud of expensive smoke has appeared!!!
Another mod they list is the direct crankcase vent. I looked- should be an easy one and will keep all that crap out of the motor. I looked underneath and figure I can run a 1" hose all the way back and down and exit at the rear right shock mount skid plate. That should keep the blowby off the underside.
My God, OSO truly is a tree-hugger's nightmare, isn't it? |

Was on my way to Oshkosh, so had to drive into Seattle for my flight, that I missed....
It's a 2 1/2 hour trip via two mountain passes and not one time did I lose power and start blowing smoke. |
Re: the black cloud of expensive smoke has appeared!!!
