I just finished reading about starter problems on 660 Raptors on the ATVriders.com forum. Must be very common. Check over there.

Between me, my brother and our riding buddies we have all of them. I have a pumped up 87 banshee that i never get tired of in the dunes, and 03 660 raptor that i use for hard trail riding through the forest, riding right along with YfZS no problem. IN the sand the yfz will smokethe 660. Im 5'-10'' 230, and feel the yfz is to small for me, the seat is to hard, and just over all not comfortable. Two of the three yfzs in our group are rode hard and both are in the shop for motor work, after two seasons of riding. The 350 raptor is underpowered and couldnt make it up the small dunes with 100lb girl. There are two honda 400 ex's, both reliable but in my opinion, out dated, the 660 raptor has way better power. My brother has one of the four new 700s in our group with each about 20 hrs on them and no problems and every one is happy. The 660 was already known as the best allaround, Yamaha just decided to build an even better allaround bike the 700. I hope this helps with your decision. oh ya no problems to date with my 660 either. HIMES

Kawasaki has a 700 TWIN and in 07 they will bring out a EFI 450 to compete with the LT-R and YFZ. It really depends on what you are going to do with the quad.

We dune and trail ride, I'm not as hardcore as Buck183, but we've ridden together quite a few times and my Suzuki LTZ-400 with reverse and a few mods is fine for me.

It would be hard to beat a 700 Raptor for an all around trail quad. Good luck in your search.
