The 4500 will give you a LOT more security and bigger brakes. Wannabe I would and do- use a Gn type hitch and get an exhaust brake and you are fine. It makes little sense to bump to a class 4 when the rig weighs considerably more, has less power and in the end is rated to tow the same weight- the bigger is consumed in it's own weight. I tow race trailers all over with one ton SRW Dodge and an FL70 toter- the Fl70 is overkill, slower, thirstier, but the crew is comfortable- we are safer in the 70 but plenty safe in the dodge. I'm more worried about the small SUV's maxed out with a newbie and marginal setup |

This truck handles loads very well and I do not know about 2 wheel versions....and these guys are right about the over weight and the 16500....make the dealer let you hook up a boat for the test drive...thats what I do these days...test this crap prior..everybody is a lier and a thief these days...can not believe the max on the plates either...make sure you ride it for a real long time...screw em....you need air ride also..and a 45 hp controller...

Re: C4500 Max Hauling!!!
We had a 4500 quad cab with a bed and it pulled the race boat (one of the first 36 spectres) just fine!

Re: C4500 Max Hauling!!!
I have a c4500 crew-cab and it tows great!Ill tow by boat threw the desert in the middle of summer at high noon and it doesn't miss a beet!My boat with fuel and trailer is close to 16k!Driving down the freeway is like driving a Ferrari, all kind of thumbs up and am even flashed quite often! :D

Re: C4500 Max Hauling!!!
That truck turns on a dime...tight....and the big lack of power  can be taken care of with a tune box that de fuels trans while shifting...the thing really rolls then...I am putting a proto type turbo on mine...lots of mods in my shop this time.....tired of all the big boys excuses...and running away from problems...we can do it....then after you pay them...you still have nothing..there is lots of stuff you can do to these rigs....the power is out of this world if you do it right....and you can dial everything from the cab..

4x4 rides like a 4x4, that is with the stock springs and such now you can goto a tappered spring or a deaver 9 spring pack to take some out and also cut down the bump stops and change shocks.
