Tire Rotation, which way?

OK the manual says criss cross rotation, which reverses the rotation of the tires and is what I was raised with.

A search on a couple of sites finds a bunch of people that say front to back rotation, (never reverse the tires)

We are talking pickup truck tires Load range E, I know all about sport car and race car tires

All the belts get stretched in one direction, criss-crossing loosens the belts and supposedly weakens the tire. I used to do criss-cross years ago, but just do front to back now..

The tires on all of our vehicles are directional so you have to do front to back. If you criss cross they will be rolling the wrong way.

On the radials of yrs ago you couldn't change the direction or you would have major blowouts due to seperation.
I just had my dually tires rotated about 25000 miles ago and x-crossed them and everything seems great. I was however very concerned, guess I'm showing my age. :(

This is what Discount tires website shows for dual-lies http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireRotation.dos

it's basically a front to back rotation

I usually alternate each rotation: front to back, then cris-cross, then front to back and so on. Trying to get each tire in each position for awhile. It's worked well so far. 50k miles, about 40% tread left and they all seem to be wearing evenly.

Kinda, the outside dually goes to the inside though which changes the direction of the tires though, same as x-cross. Which was what i was worried about, but like a said, its been 25000 miles and all is well and the excess wear on the inside fronts is now even outed. :D

Here's how I've always done it on rear-wheel drives. The illustration is from bridgestone.com.

On directionals, naturally it's front to back only.
