Unfortunatly you only get one 6.0 in the burb, LQ4...320 hp and 360 ftlbs. The 2500 has bigger everthing, frame, axles, brakes, etc. Much better suited for towing large loads, but both trucks are very heavy and both will pull a 21' boat no problem. I would think the extra weight of the 2500 will have a negative effect on whatever extra power the 6.0 motor gives you.

Most notable on the 2001-2006 Suburban/YukonXL/Avalanche 2500s, the suspension, especially the rear is LEAF SPRING vs. COIL SPRING, which is a HUGE towing differentiator.

01 2500 4x4 HD 6.0 and pulled all kinds from 39 MTIs to 38 Cigs to small ski boats... truck has 40k and have never had a problem, but a one ton really does much better....

I like the 2500 over the 1500 because you get the bigger motor 6.0. Not sure if there is any suspesion or frame difference between them. Are there any other major diff. Brakes,?
Thanks for you help guys. Also sorry if I side tracked the thread (I know if never happens).

If the deal is right, I'd be willing to let my Burban go. With a 21' boat you'll be happy with the 6.0. The suspension is different on the 2500, hence it rides a little stiffer than a 1500 but not where near the bumpy ride of a Ford Expedition. I test drove both of these before buying mine and settled on the Chevy for the ride and the turning radius.

Mine is a Black 01' Burban 2500 LT. Leather, heated seats, sunroof, power everything. Never been in an accident/fender bender. I'd have to figure out plan B for the next truck first but if you're interested PM me, we can talk more.

2001 Yukon XL 2500 4wd w/8.1L 155k miles. Small exhaust leak (headers are going on), h2o pump just started weeping and I had to replace a front hub. It ticks a little on startup and can burn some oil if you've always got your foot in it (gas mileage? hah!) But it still runs like a champ! I think there was a bulletin for intake manifold bolts to fix the oil burn.
It knows when the 31' Formula and 24' enclosed are back there, but I rarely hold up traffic.
The problem with the 6.0L in HDs is that it's bolted to the 4L80E. It's a great trans, but it's a power hog, and the 6.0 is shy on torque for that trans. That trans also has a taller 1st gear so it feels like a dog off the line, and a shorter OD gear so the motor turns a few hundred more rpm on the highway.
Thanks,
Michael
