That's called a leaking axle shaft seal. Differential lube slinging out and mixing with the road dirt. It's great for brakes.:rolleyes:

How could anyone ignore the noises that had to be coming fom those brakes, except maybe the greasy on I imagine it just had a sliding type of noise. :eek:

It made it better for gas mileage,no drag,less rolling resistance:p if ya just want to stop theres plenty of poles along the way.I bet it turned great when applying brakes turning right

My Excursion split a front rotor in half without giving any hint that it had a problem. Pulling into 7-eleven and herd a pop sound and that was it.

I guess I could see where that may be the case with a bad or porous casting, but in this case look at the waves and gouges in it --- must have chattered something awful. :eek:
