Converting to Electric/Hydraulic from Surge

I'm going to convert the trailer to E/H. Anyone have any pictures on where they mounted the pump and break-a-way box on the trailer? I really hate to drill the steel trailer to re run wires and brake lines. The line currently from the surge cyclinder to the lines has a hole on top of the tongue that the brake line runs thru, so I need to drill atleast 1 hole.

Thanks-

That's what you have to do...each installation is alittle more different then the one before. But it is not very difficult
here a couple picks of mine...I don't have any of my friend's when we did his, but I can get some if need be

The pictures are exactly what I was looking for. As for the surge actuator, I'm leaving it in place.

the BrakeRite is a different model as what my friend has and installed. He used his existing surge actuator. Mine is all built in the unit mounted on the side and the battery in the black box.

Very bad idea to leave a surge system in place after disabling it. You must either weld it solid or replace it with a new coupler. Failure to do so will result in banging of the coupler. Also do not forget the break-a-way switch.

Soup to nuts what does it cost for the conversion ? Link to source ?

Break-a-way box was $59, E/H actuator was $560 shipping $20. I got mine thru www.easternmarine.com

I was talking about the acuator, I wouldn't want to leave it on without being used. 2 of my trailers have surge brakes and I am converting, just looking for ideas on what coupler to use.
