Rusty trailer value?

Looking at a used boat with a steel trailer thats seen a lot of saltwater use. Debating whether it would be worth fixing the trailer, selling it and buying a new one, or making the deal without the trailer and buying a new one. Triple axle, set up for a 30' boat, drum brakes, etc. The brakes don't work, a lot of surface rust, heavy rust on the steps in front of and behind the fenders, and the bunks need new carpet. Anyone want to guess on the cost of repairs or how much $ either I or the seller could get for the trailer? Could it be worth 1K as is? Don't have pictures yet so I'm going off what the seller has told me.

A buddy put his in boat trader magazine for 1K, a guy drove from Dallas to get it so he could convert it to carry his sail boat. This trailer was rough, however, one mans junk is anothers treasure.

I'd rather not mess with fixing it since I know I'll be dunking it in saltwater again. Mainly trying to get an idea how much to get the guy to take off the price without the trailer.

I just got done fixing my trailer, it was a 2001 J Q tex, fits 29' fountain, needed 3 new axles with all the assemlies, brakes, rotors, calipers, etc... sand blasted it, painted it, got some new diamond plating on ebay for looks, im into it for about 1600$, but its brand new

shopped new ones, aluminum twin axles were the cheapest at around 4500$

Where can a person get a alum trailer for $4500? I may be in the market.

Start calling around to the different trailer makers. Most of the tri axle 29 - 31 models start about $4500 before you start adding options. When I was pricing them I usually ended up about $5800 with disc brakes, alum wheels, spare, etc.
