I ran my Dodge across the scales at a truck stop and it weighed 7900. I weighed the truck and boat when i towed it home from Fla. and they were 20,880. My back axle on my truck was 660 lbs. heavier and the front axle a 140 lbs. lighter with the boat behind. I didnt measure how much my truck squatted but it looked like 2-3". It towed great so i guess the 600 plus on the back axle is right.

I have an 07 F350 dually. With my 04 4300 that 05 dually squatted 1.5 inches, and that boat weighed 16800 incl trailer little fuel. This 07 is much better. 1'' or so (BOAT POSITIONED ON TRAILER) on trailer makes a big difference when towing, check that out. Jeff

Mine squats about 1.5-2". I have AirLift HD airbags installed, and while the truck does not need them, its nice to have them. It keeps the bounce-rate down, and when towing at night, you don't have to adjust your headlights.

Your class 5 hitch is still limited to 500 pounds wo WD hitch. I installed a Tow Beast WD setup to be within factory weight limits. The limits are in your owners manuel. All of us that are way over on our load carrying limits of our hitch are open to all the liability and insurance issues in case of an accident. 06 F-350 drw/382 fastech

Russ,

My 382 squats my F-350 a little, but I like using a weight distributing hitch. Much better ride and safer feel. Once I get my engines back in the boat, I can measure the drop for you.

That was the problem setting up the trailer in the first place. When the new trailer came in, we had just pulled the motors a few weeks earlier. We had to guess where the boat needed to be based on the load without motors. (I think we were off)

This has been talked about many times. Thats why you 86 the POS factory hitch and go with a Putnam or the like;)
