06 6.0 turbo coking
Dealer said my turbo was coked. I had intermittent no boost. when it would boost it had good power. Engine light would light when towing but soon go out. It seems to me that if it were coked it would have no power or boost all the time. Any suggestions?

Have a look around http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbt...003Drivetrain1
You should find a solution there |
Are they going to warranty it?

Yes no problem, I went to the dealer today to see my cab 10' in the air and stuff scattered everywhere, sheez. The mech showed me the turbo. There is a sliding section that varies the boost. That section hangs up and needs to be cleaned and polished. They told me they see it more in engines that idle alot. I usually warm up my truck 5 min or more, they said not to warm up more that a few. OK, most of the turbos that they clean and polish do not come back. We shall see.........

Coked and cooked are two different events. Coked is where the oil has broken down and crystallized due to excessive heat, common association would be failing to idle down after towing. Cooking is basically smoking the unit completely.
