Torsion axle question ??
I ran over a curb in a parking lot slowly with an empty trailer. The front wheel popped up and got stuck up against the fender. It was 4" off the ground. When I loaded the boat it popped back down. When I back the boat over a ramp all the weight for a moment is on the front axle. This is a 3 axle techsun no warrenty now del mar trailer. Another weird thing is that on the opposite side my center axle wheel is sliding when braking firmly. I know these don't distrubute the weight as well as springs. I have hydraulic disc brakes. Any ideas on this?

As for the axle popping up, and getting stuck, it sounds like the torsion portion of the axle has slipped out of its designated position. I don't know exactly how everything works in there, but perhaps someone else can chime in.
As for your brakes; the wheel/tire that is sliding: Is the the wheel that gets braking pressure first from the master cylinder once the brakes are engaged? It could be that this wheel is getting the brunt of the fluid before/as it is being dispersed to the other brakes. |
You might have broken one of the torsion cones inside the axle-These are the rubber parts that twist -- hence torsion.
Have a trailer repair shop look at it. The reason the tire locks up is not as much weight being distributed to that wheel. Wannabe |
Does anyone have a phone number for techsun/del mar? I tried the number listed 1800 499-7079 and its been disconnected.

Ive hear del mar is now gone. I had to go around them to tie down engineering to get a warrenty replacement on an axle. I told you guys about Tech-sun/delmar. warning warning warning

Change out the axle ( there cheap) and have someone loosen the brake a bit on the dragging wheel you'll find it will stop better..you may also try adjusting the brakes tightr on the other wheels..the adjusters some times get stuck from being dunked in the water and since it's a dry adjuster ( no oil on them) they tend to get rusty enough so they won't adjust themselfs..
