2008 GM Diesel?

The word on the street is the Duramax is out and there is a new diesel coming to town with something like 467hp? True?

spilman 06-13-2007 11:18 PM

Who cares. HAHA!!

You have the right screen name for a FORD, SPILMAN as in spilling oil.

Do a search on your precious powerstroke diesels on here or a diesel forum and you will notice you won't be alone on the side of the road, at the dealership or better yet the GM dealer trade in appraisal office! :D

What is the torque?

FROGMAN524 06-14-2007 12:15 AM

like 800 ft/lbs

spilman 06-14-2007 12:25 AM

Ford, GM, Mopar...everyone has there opinion on which one is best. FORD has been very good to me...awesome power, longevity, fuel economy, and the 08' has the comfort factor locked up. I did hear a few problems back in 04', did some research, did not affect me or my decisions. Because of the success I had w/7.3 I did not hesitate to buy FORD again...the 05' is still a grerat truck, but had the opp. to get into the 08', so I did it...NO SPILLIN' yet!

spilman 06-14-2007 12:27 AM

Oh Bull**** 800#%?? & 467hp, I'm doubting it. Every time Ford up's the anti, Chevy guys start the envy train and the rumors begin...just give up and get a Super Duty!!!!!

Nordicflame 06-14-2007 01:20 PM

I just bought a new Duramax LMM. I haven't heard anything like that.
Just came from a Powerstroke and love the change so far.
Not to knock Ford, I loved my PSD, but I have a few friends in the Powerstroke business and it appears they can't figure out the healthy thirst for fuel in the new 6.4L???
I'm getting 15+ mpg (hand calculated) with 35's and a 6" lift. Buddy's new 08 PSD with same is sweating to get to 10 no matter what he does
I got 9.2 pulling my 35' twin engine boat on a 600 mile trip through many grades (up and down) at elevations of 4500' to 6400' (Ogden Utah to Lake Powell and back) Not bad for pulling 6 tons around I didn't think.
I like them all but just wanted a change and I'm happy I did. The ride and the seats were worth the change alone.
Just one owners unbiased view:cool:

Well Dave, sounds like you are enjoying the kool-aid! :drink:

Looks like Spilman will have one less guy to talk to at the gas pump and Ford service bay!

I guess the durmax's don't have injector problems. Our lot sells both, they all have there issues some more than others.

The new 07.5/08 LMM utilizes a new 6 hole injector and has no reported failures in it's early life. We'll see if that holds up as we move along.

Personally, I think they've all done a fairly good job dealing with the new requirements, minus a few flame shots that is

Shut up Spilman, this thread is for Real men who drive real trucks with real diesels and real transmissions. get over it. Ford's about to be outdone again!!

03 Dmax CC 2WD with 96K on the clock, tire/fluid changes only. Still has the factory brake pads! I did get a letter that GM will extend injector warranty to 200K miles for free so I guess they are confident that the issue has been solved.

Nice try....I'll keep talkin' as long as I have ammo! Those new Chevy's look QUEER!! Just kiddin...I actually saw a pretty sharp one today, for a GM product.
BTW, my 08 is a bit thirsty, 14.5mpg around town and barely 16mpg running 80-no load. The 05' 6.0 was getting 18.5-19 highway...oh well

I've sent 3 Duramax's back to the shop for new injectors, all covered no prob. I had to replace a motor in a 04 Ford, they covered it no prob. I like both brands, but the new Chevy's a simply fugly. I like the early 07 better, new Fords look nice. Just my experienc as a used car dealer.

FROGMAN524 06-14-2007 08:35 PM

I didn't like the looks of the new 07'/08' chevy at first but I think it's growing on me. I have to admit the Ford looks iight, but I still wouldn't buy one since they don't have the Allison Transmission.

Funny you say that about the allison. I thought they were bullet proof. My buddy grenaded one in a 03 extended cab long bed duramax, no heavy towing and no mods, stock truck. Tranny had 70K, the dealer mechanic was dumbfounded. I guess nothings perfect!:evilb:

On a side note, I will not chip my 04 F350 because I feel that the tranny is the week link on the setup. Too many guys pucking em.

FROGMAN524 06-14-2007 09:04 PM

That's funny, I had a 2004 GMC 2500HD Dmax/Allison CC SB 4x4 with 105,000 miles on it with a banks 4" exhaust, K&N intake, Edge Juice and Attitude. Treated it like a sports car and never once had a problem, except that it was an 04', so I traded it in last year for a 2005 Chevy CC SB Dmax/Ally w/4x4. Not one single problem. Booooyah!:evilb:

Nolan 06-17-2007 06:14 PM

Um... Envy Train??? The 2006 LBZ Diesel has more HP and TQE then the New 2008 6.4TT Diesel... and the New LMM has even More! I work for GM... Have not heard Anything about a new 436HP Diesel... PPE Just made a Chip for the LMM for those who care Up to 300HP Increase!

Once you get over 10-12k miles you will notice a increase in milaege. As long as you have the 3.73 gears.

pullmytrigger 06-17-2007 07:38 PM

Must be awful to be a die hard Ford guy and have Chevys in your boat!!......and every other boat for that matter

If it was the other way around I wouldnt be in to perf boating......truth!

spilman 06-17-2007 09:54 PM

Hey, GM makes great gas motors; I just like the Powerstrokers....and everything else about the Super Duty.

FROGMAN524 06-17-2007 11:04 PM

300hp increase? diiiiimmmmmmm!!!

Were not talking gas motors. The Ford 5.4 motor is a POS as is the older Chevy 6.0's. Both equally gutless in my opinion.

True... But Not Completely... The Truck 6.0 LQ4 Sucked... The 6.0 that was in the SS Silverado and the Denali is a bit different... (LQ9) I have a 2004 GMC Denali Quadrasteer... HO 6.0, AWD, and All wheel steer and 410's.. weighs over 5k LBS Chip and exhaust... Runs 14's in the 1/4... Seriously... and it does all wheel drive donuts... LOL

Ya! PPE sent us one to play with... We have it on our General Sales Manager's truck... Stage 3 225HP and 390 TQE... making the GRAND total... 590HP and 1050TQE and the flywheel... Stages 1-3 still keeps the fuel cut on at shifts to keep less wear on the trans durring shifting... stage 4 does not and that means trans no likey...

The LQ4 is a fine motor, it's just bolted to the wrong trans. The 4L80E has a tall 1st gear, throw in torque management and you have a dog.
The 1/2 ton trucks get to keep the 4L65E with a much shorter first gear; makes a ton of difference.

FROGMAN524 06-20-2007 12:43 PM

nobody's said anything about the 496 8.1 they used to offer. how'd everybody like that engine?

My opinion... Great power and torque... just wouldn't be able to pass a gas station lol, didn't sell all that well in the trucks because diesel was available... A friend use to tow his 42 foot Fountain with his 2005 3/4 ton Suburban with the 8.1, 410's and Hypertech programmer... it did fine... No longer available in the new body Silverado or Suburban's they went to a new 6.0... Still available in the bigger trucks though

Byrdman 06-20-2007 07:47 PM

well...I will not let you come in here and push ppe...there tunes are chopped up and wrong!!!!!...They turn off many parameters of the computor....and over ride many tests that the trucks need....yes they make power at your trucks expense...when you see what they shut off...you will be totally pizzed off..but it will make power!!!

FROGMAN524 06-20-2007 08:59 PM

I think banks is the way to go when you're talking performance upgrades. or bullydog. i've had problems with edge.

SETTLE DOWN... I was not pushing there product I was saying we put one on a truck... It runs good... Yes they make power at your trucks expense... I like other tuners to be completely honest but they have nothing for the LMM and I was just letting people know that yes chips are coming out... Warranty work is easy to get done with a hand held programmer... Put the stock tune back on it and take it in... We are currently waiting for other chips to come so we can test those...

Byrdman 06-20-2007 10:36 PM

Yea...well...I will tell everybody here about ppe garbage...somebody get me started:evilb:

bullydog came out with theirs this week, predator supposedly close behind

Byrdman 06-20-2007 11:25 PM

Lets see...ppe stole our medium duty truck turbo combo....which by the way is wrong...cause they stole it 2 months into build when we were giving them feed back on there 2 other bad comb deals they sold us as right.....4 months later we have the right turbo combo with the correct tunes...nothing to do with ppe garbage....all built here...f them...why don't we ask them why they sell stuff to the tune of 20 gs and it is the wrong combo...and they will not re fund money for there 2 combos...how about 30 calls to get them to credit our card for misc. stuff that went back that was not right????...yes...I could ramble for a page here....they are just typical bolt on internet thieves...lurking on forums and picking ideas out of good swamp root shops!....I can sit here and tear them a new azz with all the crap...they do not build power...they steal it!...www.efilive.com do it yourself!...

Nordicflame 06-21-2007 07:01 AM

I have been Beta testing an Juice/Attitude for Edge Products over the last month with stellar results.
I had one on my last F350 for 3 years that was flawless. Should be out in two weeks.
They did have a problem a few years back with a shut off issue but I believe that is "old hat" stuff and they do indeed stand behind thier product.
Dave

Nolan 06-21-2007 11:21 AM

Thanks for the info on PPE... I had no idea... I am interested to see how the Edge works I have heard alot of good thing about them... what HP level are you running on your truck Nordicflame?? how many stages on the edge?
