He may have done that to improve the ride. The few guys I know who have the TT tires say they feel the truck run over a penny. Would the lower profile tires preclude the necessity of a lift kit as well?

Yes if would. The smallest big rig tire is 36" tall with 22.5 or 24.5 wheels. More that likely those are Load range C tires and are 6 ply.....at most load range D which are 8 ply. That truck came with load range E 10 Ply. The big rig tires go from 14 ply on up. Here is a pic of mine. You will notice the difference in sidewall.

I tried the 22.5s with 14ply Michelins and finally got discouraged enough to take them back off, I finally ended up with direct fit 19.5s from Brentz wheels and 14ply Michelins, got rid of my vibrations, but the ride is still alot harsher than the stockers.

Those look more like 24's. I had 22.5's on mine. Looked great, rode like s!$t. I didn't change the gearing to compensate, so I lost a lot of power for towing. But it looked great..:D
