I have one and I love it. It rides so much better than my 2002 F-450 did and it turns a lot sharper as well. This new 450 is really night and day different from my old one in the way it rides and drives, not to mention all of the extra options available now. I have not towed the boat with it yet, but if it handles the load well I will be able to sell the Peterbilt and use that money to pay off this truck and paint the boat
I have the Lariat with the 4:88 gears. So far the fuel mileage has been averaging 9mpg. My old F-450 had the 4:30 gears and it averaged 15mpg. I was considering a gear swap in this new truck, but I have two friends (Purnell and Sacred Ground) with the same truck running the 4:30 gears and their mpg is the same as mine. This is the only down side of this truck that I have found. Here is the new one and the old one. |

Mark,
I ordered it on saturday so i should have it tomorrow. Randy, Thanks for the info i put a call into Jeff and its a green one |
I have the 4.10 gears in the 07 model, and will wait till they offer that in the 08-09 F450's. I actually like the 3.73 gears the best for over all economy and hauling with a module or chip in, it's all the power/torque you should need.

Is anyone running these in the heat of the Southwest with a load over 16,000#?
How hard are you on the motor and tranny? I am just concerned going from the Dmax/Allison (2006 LBZ) set up to this new Ford one. |

Though we won't be in that kind of heat all the time, I will be pulling 21,000 pounds with it. With all of the radiators in the grill of that thing it should be fine in the heat. I will let you all know how it does with the weight and the 80 degree heat and humidity here the next time I put the boat on the trailer. |
Is anyone having any problems with the new motor?

The truck is great and pulls very strong; the only draw back is the 11.0 mpg empty. Pulling the boat (44 MTI) it only drops to 2 mpg but when you start at 11 mpg instead of 20 mpg like my other truck it seems low. I really like the truck overall.

Does it push you around on mountains and does the truck handle the weight well? Any big mountains where you are at? How hard is it pulling up the hills? |
