Semi Wheel Adapters.............

I need a set of semi wheel adapter for a 2003 Dodge dually. Anyone know the cheapest place to get them? Thanks.

JPD Motorsports 07-26-2007 05:29 PM

reds in Miami might be able to help you out, if not check www.chromewheel.com or www.amercianforcewheels.com or www.duallywheels.com

DirtyMoney 07-26-2007 06:15 PM

Red's site is www.dieselwheels.com

Do some research here on OSO. Many of taken their big rig wheels w/ adapter setups off, as the whole getup sucks for towing and ride. Ideal setup for looks, tire longevity, and towing stability is 19.5" direct bolt ons.

carter38 07-26-2007 09:45 PM

They sure look sweet though. I think I'm going to have to build one sometime just to get it out of my system.

I can attest to that!!! Biggest mistake/waste of money I ever tried. 19.5 direct fits from Brentzwheels.com or Rickson truck wheels is the only way to go. Do a forum search on the subject before you waste big money....I wish I had.

apache727 07-27-2007 08:21 AM

Well I bought a used set of Freightliner wheels with new tires and adapters for my truck cheap off some guy on ebay in miami. I get home and they don't fit because they came off of a Superduty. I sold them on Ebay for $490 and I'm about to die sitting here staring at them not on my truck. I called GAW and REDS and they wanted 900 plus a 100 to ship to st. pete. I think thats a rip off.

Slick02 07-27-2007 04:39 PM

If you insist on doing this, check with American Force wheels out of S.Florida, they've got the adaptors/kits to install them.

apache727 07-30-2007 05:23 PM

Thanks for all the help. I ordered the adapters for $785 shipped. I have about $2700 in the whole kit so if I don't like it I think I'll be able to get out of them. Thanks again!

Slick02 07-31-2007 08:30 AM

Good luck..

apache727 08-10-2007 02:33 PM

Thanks. I had six loud and rough riding BFG Mud terrains on it before and I couldn't be happier with the semi wheels now. My truck went from 14.6 mpg to over 17 in the city. With the taller tire the thing hauls ass on the interstate now. It rides like a caddy compared to how it did before... http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...s/DSC00009.jpg

Downtown42 08-10-2007 03:03 PM

your gear ratio drops with bigger tires lowering your rpms when at cruise, thus better mpg.

Slick02 08-11-2007 06:30 AM

That much unsprung rolling weight/mass really sux on the brake system, and puts the wheel bearings, steering components etc under one hell of a strain.

thunderusone 08-11-2007 11:09 AM

Looks killer......I love mine too. Its all in the setup.

I run the 8 to 10 lug adapters on my truck with 19.5's for 12,000 miles with no issues plus it looks tough with the bigger hub.

I'm ready to do mine. Tired of hearing all the *****ing about the 22.5's. If you want to get rid of a set, let me know. It just looks too cool to not try it. 2001 GMC 3500 4x4 crew cab. Thanks.

It's not *****ing, its trying to help OSO brothers out so that they don't make the same mistakes/waste money,,,No one really gives a s*^t one way or the other what you do with your truck,,take advise or don't....
It's just opinions, right or wrong, but most are based on previous experience.

I agree with Slick. He's just trying to help. For some people, that's a lot of money to spend to find out how bad the truck rides after putting these wheels on, or how much towing capacity you loose if you don't regear the truck or how much stopping power you loose if you don't upgrade the brakes. These trucks didn't come with these wheels and arent designed to have them. So you change geometry and over burden the other components of truck if you simply bolt them on with out making other modifications. I did it with a GMC and a Ford. The Ford handled the wheels better but I got tired of making mods and the ruff ride, and the fact that my seat belt would lock up and pin me in the seat. If all you care about is looks, then go for it, you can't beat the look, it's *****en.

Slick02 08-18-2007 05:45 AM

I'll leave this discussion with one final thing to say,,,every honest person I've ever talked to that has done it,,wouldn't do it again.
But everyone has a different criteria for what they want/expect out of their truck.
Tim's right, it looks cool, but mine at this point is a daily driver, and I personally was unhappy with the results, so I was just pointing out the other side of the modification.

American Force Wheels, Bad News! No Warranty!

SORRY TO POST ONTO AN OLD THREAD, BUT I THOUGHT I'D PUT MY TWO CENTS IN.

We installed numerous sets of the 19.5" American Force direct bolt-on wheels a while back. They did fit well, and the aluminum wheels were good looking.

The problem is that the clearcoat peeled off of the wheels. When we called American Force to warranty the wheels for our customers, we were told that the wheels were out of stock, and that they would deal with the situation when they got them back in inventory. This was over a year ago.

In the meantime, on the advice of American Force, we replaced the wheels for the customers with the ones from American Eagle. Great people over there by the way.

Now that we have the American Force wheels back, they refuse to offer us any help on the cost of the warranty. I have called them numerous times with regard to the issue, and was initially promised $300 per set to offset the cost of repolishing the finish.

Now when I call Ray to check on the money, I am told that "we're done talking buddy. I'm not paying you anything. Sue me."

Note. I purchased and installed 8 sets of these things from the company. Quick math tells you that you still make money if you return these three sets.
Quicker math tells you not to ever buy a product from a company who doesnt stand behind it

I read through the whole chromewheel site and after a phone conversation with the guy there I believe he knows how to make big the big tire and wheel combos work. I'll have to pay over $5000 for the 19.5 Turbo wheels, 10 lug adapters and Michelin tires, but for the mileage and peace of mind it's worth it imo.
