Check your trailer !!!!

Just thought I would share what happened to me yesterday.

I was bringing the boat home to do maintenance and on the way I was stopping and then all of a sudden I had no more trailer brakes. Thank God for Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads on my F-350. I had to use all it had to stop the 15,000 lbs that was behind me!!!!

The reason this happened is because on my 2000 Heritage triple axle trailer, the brake line was rusty and rubbed thru where it exits from inside the frame tube in front of the first axle. It burst because the rust and rubbing weakened it at that spot. A trip to the parts store and 3 hours labor and I am back in business. I bought coated line and I put a rubber hose over the line to shield it where it goes in and comes out of the trailer.

If you trailer alot take the time to check yours out. Don't find out the hard way like I did !!!!

In 4 years, I have had to replace the same piece twice from rubbing and leak inside the frame of my Eagle trailer.

Dave. Did you get a chance to get out on the water this weekend? I'm going to have to check out my trailer. If in not mistaken I think all my lines run out side of the axels...

I was out most of yesterday. It was an awesome day !!!

The brake line I had to replace was from the master cylinder to the first junction point in front of the first axle. All of the lines that feed individual calipers are outside of the axles. Its the single line that you need to keep an eye on.

Always use stainless steel braided brake lines!!!
