New shocks for a PSD
 

I have surfed around the Ford truck forums and Bilstein seems to be the shock absorber of choice on those boards. Any truck guys on the board have a preference. Its a 2005 PSD 4wd short box dually crew cab have 75,000 on it and shock are showing there age.

I like the Edelbrocks better. I had the Bilsteins and they were a dramatic improvement over the stock shock. I put the Edelbrocks on my other Excursion and liked them so well, I took fairly new Bilsteins off the other truck and replaced them with the Edelbrock.

Both are fairly similar with the truck loaded- the Edelbrock rides much nicer unloaded.

I put the KYB shocks on my 350PSD and love them.

which KYB?

I've spied them myself as an upgrade over the stockers on my HD.

I have used the Rancho 9000 series on all my trucks Ford dually, 150 FWD , Ranger monster truck.

Good stiff ride but not too much so. No slop at all...I'll get them again. There's some discussion on KYBs at TheDieselStop.com

I'm running the KYB Monomax shock on the exact same truck as you except mine is an 06 with 19.5 Brentz wheels and Michelin xde+2s definately a firmer ride than the oems.

I see alot of mention about "firmer ride" which is what the Bilsteins gave me. I changed to the edelbrock as it was the only one I could find that would provide automatically variable adjust on the damping. The truck rides the same no matter what I have inside and I don't have to adjust anything. If you want to stiffen things up, they're not a good choice.

Tried the Edelbrocks on a friends 2500 diesel Suburban and after about 20,000 miles he started complaining about a mushy ride again.

The Bilsteins have that as well. I have put around 100,000 miles on my Bilsteins and so far so good. I will also tell you that Bilsteins warantee is good. They replaced some shocks that I got off a crashed car no questions asked.
