6.0 in a 2500HD, who has one?
 

Ok I'm trying to find a 2500HD before the 0% financing runs out, and was wondering if anybody has any experience with the 6 liter with the non-allison 6 speed. I know, I know, I should just get the Dmax with the Allison but I've been to 6 dealers and so far I've only found one that I like and that $44,000 sticker is a little hard to swallow. I'm gonna call the place where I found the Dmax truck tomorrow to see what they can do on the price but just in case I'm keeping an open mind on the 6.0. I think the half ton is out of the question, the frame just looks to scrawny compared to the HD. So let me hear it guys!

my neighbor just bought one couple of months ago. Uses a lot of fuel and got very little power. We tried to install an Edge on it, but they have not made it for the "classic" 2007 yet so we had to do some programming. Will prolly get it done next week-end.

I had an 05 before i bought a d-max, I had a tuner, good exhaust & an AFE strapped to it and it was great if you where not pulling, well exept for the 12.5 mpg on its best day with no load ,i now have a d-max and average 18mpg.Dude buy the d-max with the O%,you will not be sorry.

pulled my 35-7 formula 15000 pounds with trailer and gas. does the job OK as long you are not going up a hill for 5 miles...

I have one, it's a 2002 with the 4 speed auto. I have not pulled anything bigger than my snowmobile trailer with it, but that wieghed in at almost 6,000 lbs. Towing my that in the winter at 65mph I get about 11 miles per gallon. Otherwise empty if I keep it under 70 mph I can get about 15 miles per gallon highway, 12 around town. The power is nothing to write home about but is enough to do what it needs to get done. I am happy with it, it suits my needs. A friend of mine has a 10,000 lb fifth wheel camper he pulls with a similiar truck to mine, and he is happy with it.

Ive had an 03 for a little over a month, and Im satisfied with it. Tows 7k just fine. RHC used one to tow his old 36 Apache with no problems.

The new 6.0 did well as did Fords V10 which is a viable option to a diesel.

I have a 07 2500HD Classic with the 6.0 - around 6500 miles on it now. Definetly has a LOT more grunt then the 5.3 that I use to tow the same unit with. Can actually use my cruise control and it stays pretty constant without dropping into 2nd gear on every little grade. Get's mid 15-16MPG non-towing on the highway with some city use mixed in. I tow 7500 approx. It's a 2 WD as well. I'm very happy with it thus far and think it pulls pretty damn good given it's a small block displacement motor..

I had a 2005 2500HD with the 6.0L. It sucked! The fuel that is. Most of what everyone said that was negative is true. It can't even carry it's own azz down the interstate without a load on cruise control. Once you start going up a very small incline, it kicks down 2 gears and commences to burn all your fuel.

I've got a crew cab 6.6 Duramax now. Best move I ever made. Got it for just a little over $30K. If you can't afford a new one, find a used 06 or 07 classic. They've got the LBZ and Allison 6-speed. The LBZ is 360hp and 600ft. lbs. With the edge juice and a few tranny parts you can get 600hp and 1,000 ft lbs.!

It'll even tow my 6,000 pound boat up an incline on cruise and never shift...

Got 3 2500 HD's (2004,2005,2007) all with the 6.0. Plenty of ass for what you will need it for. Also have a 4500 with a DuraMax, it does have alot more power (obviously) but not worth the extra coin if you don't need it. With the 2007 "classic" and "silverado" they give you 100,000 mile warranty on the gas motors. Save the 6 or 7K, plus cheaper fuel, and throw it away when your done with it:D
