Have any of you had trouble at the ramps with launching and retrieving your boats like slipage and such where you needed a hook or wish you had 4wd? What weights are you towing with them, and type of mileage? Currently have 4500 4wd and havent put in 4wd since purchase but to rescure a tractor and burried the truck to the frame so if not needed looking this route.

So far, I have launched and retrieved 3 times and didn't slip once. These were pretty steep ramps, but had good bite on them. Freshwater lakes also.

I do have to back in to where the rear wheels get wet, about 6" deep.

I don't have any problems with mine.

Forgot to answer your weight question.

My truck weighs about 13,000# and my boat on the trailer loaded is about 23,000#.

I have said it many time here, I had an 05 LLY 4500 Kodiak with the Regency upfit. The Freightliner is hands down 10x better. The ride of the FL is a huge improvement over the 4500, and the power of the motor while towing is amazing compared to the DMax in trucks like these.

I wish I did it right the first time.

If you have enough tougue weight then you should not have a problem. My truck is just like a sportchassis and I never have a problem.

Magic34 I have been following you around with the truck towing package "hehe" first my 03 dually then the kodiak now looking at the sportchassis p2.

I have a Kodiak C6500 crewcab and it slips bad. But the boat will be moved up two feet on the trailer and the trailer shortened two feet this winter which should help. Pulling my Excalibur 40 out at PB2 at LOTO I was slipping bad, couple guys got on the trailer tongue and she drove out. Best way to get my truck out (3116 Cat 6 speed) is to use First gear and NO THROTTLE...

Alot of the medium-duty tow vehicles are ballasted. It's not tough to add weight- it greatly improves unloaded ride as well. I had 2 sheets of 4'x8'x1" thick plate steel welded under my bed. No traction problems on the typucal ramp.

Some are so steep and so greasy that nothing is going to work. I have a stainless steel bristle brush that's 3" by 8' that screws onto a pole. I've de-slimed a few ramps and that really helps- way better than dumping sand.
