I would think he is since the d/ a would mean duramax/allison.

PJDiesel 09-19-2007 08:14 PM

It would be my second choice only to the Cummins/G-56 6 speed.......

jeff32 09-19-2007 09:53 PM

number one truck! pulled same 12000 lbs trailer with new ford, new dodge and new GM... less fuel, more torque, stayed in overdrive... even better with SuperChip programmer...

handreasen 09-20-2007 03:15 AM

Haven't compared to others, but towed 38 Scarab 5000 miles round trip AZ/FL/AZ. 13,000#'s 70-75 mph 12.6 MPG, plenty of TQ to pass at highway speed, 1st gear traction controle on Allison works great on nasty ramps, breaks are excellent and stability was excellent. I'm pleased.

Pure Energy 09-20-2007 07:47 AM

Lov'in the first 350 miles with mine!!

FROGMAN524 09-20-2007 09:13 AM

yes I meant Chevrolet/GMC 3500HD Duramax/Allison.

Tom A. 09-28-2007 05:26 AM

I have first generation (2001) Allison w/ just under 85,000 miles. I wouldn't tow with anything else.

dicdik 09-28-2007 09:12 AM

I love my 06 dually, with 31's, Edge attitude w/juice programer, MBRP 4" stainless exhaust turbo back system, volant air kit. Though I would not buy the volant again, I would go with K&N filter kit. Programmer in tow mode tows my 27 fountain and 30' enclosed car trailer like nobodies business. My programmer has a test mode 0-60mph and 1/4 mile times. Stock configuration 0-60 mph 14 seconds. Programmer at level 5, 0-60 is now 7.2 seconds. It suprises alot of people. The biggest power notice is just passing people or romping the gas at 40 mph. Fuel milage is now around 15 mpg(everyday driving and towing), but I've seene 17-18 on highway.

f311fr1 09-29-2007 10:07 AM

I love my 06. HD3500, 4 x 4, crew cab dually. Edge Attiude with juice, cold air intake, 29.5 wheels and tires, Putnam reciever abd hitch. I pull a 43 Black Thunder 14 to 17 k lbs depending on fuel load. I love this truck.

Why don't you like the volant air kit? I was going to put one on my 06 dually. Ike

gm 3500

Now that GM has broken off relations with Isuzu, the end of the duramax is near. What will GM use to replace it? Mitsubishi? I guess all you GM guys will have to switch back to a American made truck, Ford or Dodge!

OUT OF A JOB YET? KEEP BUYING FOREIGN!

With that turd 6.0L, and now the flame throwing 6.4L, I went with the Duramax. You can cry "buy American" all you want, but when I buy a truck I want to drive it home, not around to the back of the dealership to the service dept!!

GM is selling it's shares of Isuzi, not breaking off relations and will continue buying from them. So I've read.

Great response! I can also enjoy my Duramax while GM further refines their product since it "RUNS." With 101K on my 03 I have only done filter/fluid/tire changes. The brake pads are still original. BTW my truck was built in Texas and the new ones are all out of Flint, Michigan.

There is a OSO member that bought the 08 F350 and didn't even get 200 miles on it before it had a meltdown. After being told there is a 2 month wait at the dealership he got Ford to replace it with a new truck. That is not the way I want to start my new truck experience.

Duramax

GM has a long term deal to buy diesels from Isuzu. So the Duramax IS NOT going away.

The engines take about 10k miles to truly break in.

Do you have one of those stickers on the back of your truck with the little troll pi$$ing on a Ford emblem?

Everybody makes a decent truck. I could tell you two hundred stories about blown-up Duramaxes for every one you have. They all break sometimes.

Good quote..I have both, and with over 100k on some of the 03 and 04's....Both great trucks and both have their strong points. Mechanicly I have had less motor and tranny problems with the Fords pulling the real heavy loads. The GM's are more comfortable though.:D

I laugh at those guys knowing in time someone who really is a big fan of the team, brand or whatever is being pissed on is going to seek revenge on their vehicle while it is sitting unattended in a parking lot.
