Quite honestly, I wouldn't have given it much thought about my tow vehicle/boat combo if I hadn't learned it from OSO many years back.
My dad used to haul a 25' cabin cruiser back and forth to the Marina 2 times a year behind a 77' Pontiac Phoenix (same as a Nova from those years). I remember when he bought it, (Iwas 12 or 13) and asking him if the car would tow it? He said "sure, it's got a V-8 in it".
That kinda stuck in my head that as long as I had a V-8 I was good to go.
When I had my 25 Baja and a 1/2 ton truck, the tow was a little scary, and marginal at best. Shortly after buying that boat, I found OSO, long before I actually ponied up and registered. And I realized I needed a bigger truck. Bought a dually just planning on going bigger with boats. Finances took a turn south, and the boat and the dually both went away.
I'm back in a 1/2 ton truck, and knew I couldn't afford both a new truck and a boat at the same time. So I bought a boat that would fit my current scenario. I still have a larger truck on my short list, just because I know I'll be safer that way, but I know that I'm currently within my rating, and already toted the boat 350 miles home from where I bought it.
Chris continue to post - the person your telling may not get your point, but he's not the only one reading your post, and it may make someone else think about it a little more - it did for me.

Pretty simple- I don't know everything- pretty far from it. Other people have posted lots of insighful things both in this section and throughout OSO that have either enlightened me or have changed my mind.
